McDermott’s Approach to Modularization Featured in LNG Industry Magazine

In an article for the June issue of LNG Industry Magazine, McDermott’s Samik Mukherjee, Don Hill and Lina Gonzalez review modularization options and applications in the context of new liquefaction projects. There is no one-size-fits-all solutions for these types of projects and that every customer is unique – as are their projects, but they detail in their article some of the best practices that enhance the overall execution of any given project.

McDermott’s modularization guiding principle is to collaborate across the whole organization to achieve the most beneficial execution approach through a standardized and integrated process. This approach results in solutions ranging from truckable, pipe assembly racks and skids, barge-able medium to large pipe assembly racks, process units to mega module process units, or a blend of these.
In the article, they discuss some of the many drivers for modularization and discuss some of the factors for consideration and whether a stick-built versus a modularization approach might be best or a combination of the two might work best.
