Summary

The Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project is one of Australia's largest resource projects. Located at Ashburton North, 12 kilometers west of Onslow in Western Australia, the project will consist of two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 8.9 million tonnes per annum and a domestic gas plant. The Wheatstone Project is a joint venture between Australian subsidiaries of Chevron, Apache Corporation, Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC), Shell and Kyushu Electric Power Company (Kyushu) together with PE Wheatstone Pty Ltd (part owned by TEPCO).

Wheatstone modules include:

  • Installation and hook-up of 53 OSBL pre-assembled modules
  • Largest 2,500 tonnes installation and hook-up of 11 domestic gas (DOMGAS) unit modules
  • Largest 1,700 tonnes interconnection of 5,500 tonnes module structural steel and erection of all stick-built structural steel
  • Installation of the 1,100 mm dia x 1,200m long feed gas pipeline
  • Installation of the slug catcher and pre-fabricated assemblies
  • Installation of the Gas Turbine Generator packages (four each GE LM 6000)
  • Installation of one BOG Compressor

The construction workforce is expected to peak at approximately 1,000 craft laborers.
