Summary
McDermott’s work scope included two 160,000 cubic meter full-containment LNG tanks with a 353 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) send-out capacity and complete ship unloading facilities. McDermott’s scope also included the marine works which comprise a 1.7 kilometer long jetty extending into Quintero Bay. Two open rack vaporizers utilizing seawater are employed in the primary regasification system with a submerged combustion vaporizer serving as backup. The LNG tanks are constructed on a seismic isolation system due to high earthquake loads in the area. A 10,000 cubic meter LNG storage tank was installed to allow continuous production during the Early Gas Phase. Prior to the award of the EPC contract, McDermott performed front-end engineering and design (FEED) and pre-FEED work on the project. McDermott performed all aspects of the engineering and procurement scope of work using in-house resources with the exception of the jetty. Site manpower was approximately 4,300 at peak, with more than 10.3 million work hours of craft labor expended. Ninety-six percent of the project labor was Chilean.
