Summary

McDermott was responsible for the EPFC execution of a bitumen extraction plant and tank farms, as well as the design and field fabrication of six Froth Settler Units.

Execution challenges included cold climate conditions, poor site geotechnical conditions and dynamic design specifications.
McDermott executed the engineering and construction with an aggressive schedule, in a multi-prime contractor environment. The project also participated in socio-economic awareness programs for the surrounding indigenous population. This project was performed using multi-office and multi-shop execution, involving the Beaumont and Houston design offices in coordination with the Alberta office. McDermott also performed the vessel design and construction.
