Summary

Duke Energy selected McDermott to provide engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning services, as well as an FGD system, for the James E. Rogers Energy Complex, an 825 MW Supercritical Coal Plant located in Rutherford and Cleveland Counties, North Carolina. The Design Fuel is a blend of 50% Central Appalachian and 50% Northern Appalachian coals. The plant includes state-of-the-art technologies and pollution control systems. Unit 6 was designed to remove 99% of sulfur dioxide and 90% of mercury emissions to meet particulate emission limits. The supercritical combustion technology allows the plant to cycle more efficiently than most coal-fired plants in the nation. The project received the prestigious North Carolina Department of Labor Building Star award, was completed on budget and within schedule.
