Olefins are a class of chemicals such as ethylene, propylene and butylene. Olefins are the building blocks for a wide variety of products such as plastics, rubbers and solvents. They are produced from natural gas liquids and refinery products such as naphtha, kerosene and gas oil.
Lummus Technology offers a variety of licensed processes to produce and recover olefins as well as to convert them to higher valued products such as polyethylene, polypropylene and alkylate. Olefin producing technologies include steam cracking, fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) and catalytic dehydrogenation (CATOFIN®). Light olefins recovery technology recovers olefins from methanol to olefins plants or from refinery offgases. Olefins conversion technology (OCT), ethylene dimerization and comonomer production technology (CPT) balance petrochemical feedstock and product demand by interconverting light olefins to the desired olefins.
