Efficient construction techniques
We build sulfur-processing facilities utilizing both modular and conventional construction methods, depending on the project requirements. Modular units are fabricated by skilled craftspeople at our in-house shops and can be shipped anywhere for installation. Thus, fieldwork is minimized, resulting in fewer weather delays and reducing the impact of the project on the customer's site. By fabricating components in our shop, under controlled conditions, we can ensure all work meets our quality and safety standards. This also minimizes "in-air" work, which can reduce the customer's risk. Modular construction can also lower labor costs by reducing on-site requirements for highly-skilled craftspeople.
When it comes to field-erection, we are unsurpassed. Our in-house construction technology experts provide construction engineering and consulting services to our project teams and customers worldwide. We constantly seek better methods, tools and equipment for safely erecting high-quality structures more efficiently. And we've developed specialized equipment for performing heavy lifts in congested work areas and rigging techniques to make elevated work safer.
Lummus Technology provides spare parts, replacements, modifications and upgrades post-project. Parts include, but are not limited to, burner tips, burner tiles, sulfur seal legs, tube ferrules and Claus Combustors™. We can expedite quality fabricated parts or equipment in emergency situations.
Amine treating is one of the most widely-used and cost-effective methods of removing hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide from hydrocarbon streams. Lummus Technology's solutions for refiners include reliable specialty and conventional amine plants to meet a variety of specifications.
Lummus Technology has installed more than 90 tail gas treating units—with capacities from 4 to 800 long tons per day—that employ our patented Resulf™ technology to recover remaining sulfur compounds from the Claus process.
Lummus Technology supplies sour water stripping units for the removal of hydrogen sulfide and ammonia from refinery wastewater. Around the world, we have designed and built more than 45 sour water stripping units with capacities of 32 to 925 gallons per minute.
