Lummus Technology is a leading provider of synthesis gas (syngas) generation plants for refinery and petrochemical applications. Over the past 50 years, we've designed and built plants around the world that produce high-purity hydrogen and carbon monoxide streams.
Our syngas solutions include hydrogen/carbon monoxide (HYCO) plants and carbon monoxide (CO) plants that utilize steam methane reforming (SMR), autothermal reforming (ATR) or partial oxidation (POX) technology. (For customers requiring pure hydrogen streams, we also design and build hydrogen plants.) The choice of process technology depends on the desired H2/CO ratio, feedstock, oxygen availability and cost, environmental considerations and other factors.
SMR-type plants with a design capacity of more than seven million standard cubic feet per day incorporate our proprietary HYFORMING® box reformer furnace technology. Plants with a design capacity of up to seven million standard cubic feet per day feature our proprietary H2Drogen® cylindrical reformer furnace technology. Both technologies combine efficient energy utilization and superior performance with safety and ease of operation.
