Summary

McDermott was selected to design and build a storage facility for the Pearl gas-to-liquids (GTL) production complex in Qatar, the largest GTL complex in the world. The company provided full engineering, procurement and construction services for the project.

The work scope consisted of two storage farms, with six tanks at the harbor site and another 32 at the main complex. The combined storage capacity is 900,000 cubic meters, with 120 km of piping systems. McDermott was also responsible for all associated mechanical, civil, building, electrical and instrumentation works for the project. The onsite work force peaked above 2,000 employees.
