Project Management

Our experience is based on decades of excellence in execution.
We are renowned for executing complex and fast-track projects across all water depths, often in challenging offshore locations. From concept to commissioning, we deliver high quality facilities safely and on schedule.

Executing an individual service or acting as the single point of contact for integrated engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) activities, McDermott effectively integrates all facets of a project.

“One Team” Approach
We strive to appreciate our customers’ project culture, aligning collective project teams to meet or exceed project goals.

Our formula for success combines comprehensive in-house resources, global assets, robust contracting strategy, diversity and depth of experience, a project-centered execution approach, consistent work processes, career development programs and uncompromising business ethics.

Project Management Experience
Our project management teams have broad, hands on experience across all EPCI aspects of the offshore industry.

Often, this is home-grown through skills gained at our engineering offices, fabrication yards or on our vessels and through this unique, in-house network, talent is readily available to assist project teams. The average experience of our senior project leadership is more than 30 years of understanding how to effectively combine people, assets and processes to reliably deliver a project.

Project-Centered Execution
McDermott’s project-centered execution model is built on our experience, collaboration, integration, and safety, quality and ethical performance-driven behavior.

This consistent and structured approach to project execution allows us to be more creative and responsive in synchronizing parallel activities, allocating optimal resources, communicating effectively, minimizing and managing risks. The greatest value of this approach is realized on EPCI projects, with single-point project accountability, imperative for complex projects, fast-track schedules or deepwater and harsh offshore environments where rigorous project management is key.

Integrated Management System
Our robust system of work processes and procedures (the Integrated Management System) ensures consistency is applied throughout our global operations.

Controlled by a central functional group and implemented uniformly across projects worldwide, our leadership teams ensure understanding and application, and continual improvement through industry best practices and shared lessons learned. Sound interface management across people, disciplines and project phases is reinforced through these work processes and procedures.

Targeted Career Development
With our legacy in the offshore industry and our global breadth of resources, the available knowledge and opportunity to develop project management talent is extensive.

Our in-house Project Execution University, led by experienced industry professionals targets development of the next wave of project leaders. In addition, our Graduate Engineer Development Program attracts young, talented, college graduates with three years of rotational assignments providing a broad foundation of experience prior to settling in a particular field.

Uncompromising Business Ethics
The guiding principles of our project management teams are grounded in McDermott’s Mission, Vision and Values Statement.

Typically, we face many challenges when executing large, complex projects for different global markets. Rigorous guidelines, reinforced through training, awareness and annual certification assure, project teams act with uncompromising business ethics.
