Training & Development

McDermott is committed to developing employees with the knowledge, skills and competencies to excel in their positions. Our approach combines global and regional training to provide a complete set of requirements for each employee. Ongoing and consistent training also increases the opportunity for job mobility within the company.

Our Competency Assurance Program brings together elements from all over the world to create a complete system of skills evaluation. Our ability to evaluate employees’ competency and invest in ensuring we have the most capable workforce to meet company objectives and serve clients are primary reasons for McDermott’s long-term leadership in the industry.

It begins with evaluating individual competencies among all craft, onshore and offshore, at the time of hiring to determine individual skills levels and identify areas that are missing or not current. These assessments are based on prescribed National Vocational Qualifications standards for each craft and discipline. Then we select world-class solutions, drawing on internal and external resources from our world-class Craft Training Centers, and deliver instructional and educational programs by in-house and original equipment manufacturer professionals.
